Mat Mirol is a french musician, bass &guitar player, singer, composer, arranger & band director, born in 1978 in Paris.

As a studio & live session musician, he plays bass guitar, Double bass, Acoustic & electric guitars, world music instruments (Saz, Ghembri,..) saxophones Alto & Tenor, world flûtes. 

His father Noel Mirol was a bassist of Dutronc, Hallyday, Dassin ..

After Music academy and a cursus at the Cim jazz school (student of Jean claude Forenbach, Philippe Baudoin,  ..) & Atla modern music school (teachers : Max Robin, Romane, .. and Masterclass with Michel-Yves Kochmann ...) in Paris, he started working as a professional musician in 1995 (opening for Maceo Parker). He took private lessons with Pierre cullaz, Jean paul Charlap. .

 Winner in 2003 of NECC award competition in Paris with the band soûl & sale, he has played since that period, with various international artists (playing Rock, Jazz, World music, Funk, Contempory..)

Bass player for Tonton David, Mike Shannon, bass player in Buenas Ondas from 2011 (nominated @ 2014 Octaves de la Musique for album "Unity") and bass player in Kel Assouf from 2015 (winner of 2 Octaves de la Musique Awards in 2017 for their album "Tikounen" in the World Music category), He shared the stage with Patrice Boudot-Lamot, Jean luc Millot (drummer of tête raides), Doudou Weiss (drummer of Magma), Celinho Barros, Tarcisio Gondim, Imed Alibi, Bombino, ...

He also founded his Blues project “Rootsmat” between 2010 and 2015. 

He has also produced soundtracks, jingles and sound designs for documentaries, and in a more committed universe, music / sounds for short and medium-length films as well as multidisciplinary artistic performances, with among others the director and V-jockey Julien Tatham accompanied by contemporary dancers. He produces the music for "LYDIA 15 ANS"  (directed from J.Tatham) selected at the 3rd International Experimental Short Film festival in Detmold in Germany.

 

From 2000 to 2019, he Toured in Vietnam, Cyprus, Egypt, Switzerland, Morocco, Turkey, Sweden, Denmark, Czech Republic... (as a sideman or a frontman)

He has recorded about 50 albums and played in Olympia (Paris), Womad U.K & Spain, Inmusic Zagreb (Croatia), Gagnef (Sweden), Dour festival (2011, 2016), BSF, Couleur Café (Belgium)..
